The primary aim of Autism
Associates is to encourage early detection, intervention and
integration of young children and adults with ASD in
Nigeria. We do this by growing awareness about various issues affecting persons and families living with the condition. Our motto is "Lighting the Way for Hope and Help", and we are committed to making impact in rural communities of Nigeria where, in some cases, the word "autism" has never been heard. Through regular awareness campaigns, we create opportunities for parents to network and prepare grounds for services to potentially emerge.
Persons with developmental
disabilities particularly autism spectrum disorders are at the short end of the stick in our country,
where services are minimal and in critical shortage.
Autism Associates emerged as one of the few services
to bridge the gap in service availability for this
neglected community. We are therefore, very involved in organising training programmes for parents,teachers, therapists and relevant professionals. |
